Pension Funds Performance Report: February 2025

This report provides an analysis of investment returns generated by PFA’s in February 2025 and YTD to 28 February 2025. As of 31 December 2024, PFA’s managed more than ₦22.51 trillion on behalf of RSA holders. Is your retirement fund growing optimally? Read on.

 

 

Fund I (Aggressive Growth Fund) Report

Overview: The report for Fund I provides insights into the performance of various pension funds during February 2025 and the Year-To-Date (YTD) growth up to 28th February 2025.

February 2025 Fund Growth:

  • Top Performer: Oak Pensions, with a robust growth rate of 4.94%.
  • Runners-Up: PAL Pensions at 4.65% and Trustfund Pensions at 2.72%.
  • Average Growth: The average growth rate across all funds was 2.09%.
  • Lowest Growth: NPF Pensions, with a growth rate of 0.88%.

YTD Fund Growth to 28-02-2025:

  •  Top Performer: PAL Pensions again leads with an impressive YTD growth of 7.57%.
  • Runners-Up: Trustfund Pensions at 5.53% and Oak Pensions at 5.11%.
  • Average Growth: The average YTD growth rate was 4.35%.
  • Lowest Growth: NPF Pensions, with a YTD growth rate of 1.68%.

Analysis: Oak Pensions PAL Pensions and Trustfund Pensions have so far consistently outperformed other funds in both monthly and YTD assessments. The overall growth trend indicates a positive trajectory for the pension funds, with the average growth rates being above 1% for both periods. CardinalStone Pensions and Leadway Pensure PFA had incomplete data. CardinalStone Pensions (formally Radix Pensions) launched a new website, but Fund prices have not been updated for a while, whilst Leadway Pensure PFA’s prices charts have not been available as at the time of compiling this report.


 

 

Fund II (Balanced Fund) Report

Overview: Fund II's report highlights the growth rates of various pension funds for February 2025 and the YTD performance up to 28th February 2025.

February 2025 Fund Growth:

  • Top Performer: PAL Pensions, achieving a growth rate of 3.31%.
  • Runners-Up: Trustfund Pensions at 2.93% and Guaranty Trust Pension Managers at 2.68%.
  • Average Growth: The average growth rate was 1.84%.
  • Lowest Growth: NPF Pensions, with a growth rate of 0.83%.

YTD Fund Growth to 28-02-2025:

  • Top Performer: Trustfund Pensions, with a YTD growth of 5.22%.
  • Runners-Up: PAL Pensions at 5.05% and Premium Pension at 4.36%.
  • Average Growth: The average YTD growth rate was 3.64%.
  • Lowest Growth: NPF Pensions, with a YTD growth rate of 1.75%.

Analysis: PAL Pensions and Trustfund Pensions showed strong performance in both monthly and YTD assessments. The data suggests a competitive landscape among the top performers, with several funds achieving growth rates above 2%.


 

 

Fund III (Pre-Retirement Fund) Report

Overview: The report for Fund III presents the growth rates of various pension funds for February 2025 and the YTD performance up to 28th February 2025.

February 2025 Fund Growth:

  • Top Performer: PAL Pensions, with a growth rate of 2.16%.
  • Runners-Up: Oak Pensions at 1.98% and FCMB Pensions at 1.75%.
  • Average Growth: The average growth rate was 1.38%.
  • Lowest Growth: NPF Pensions, with a growth rate of 0.90%.

YTD Fund Growth to 28-02-2025:

  • Top Performer: PAL Pensions, with a YTD growth of 3.60%.
  • Runners-Up: Access ARM Pensions at 3.25% and Guaranty Trust Pension Managers at 3.24%.
  • Average Growth: The average YTD growth rate was 2.89%.
  • Lowest Growth: NPF Pensions, with a YTD growth rate of 1.45%.

Analysis: PAL Pensions demonstrated consistent strong performance, leading both monthly and YTD growth charts. The overall growth rates indicate a healthy growth trend for the pension funds in Fund III.


 

 

Fund IV (Retiree Fund) Report

Overview: Fund IV's report provides a detailed analysis of the growth rates of various pension funds for February 2025 and the YTD performance up to 28th February 2025.

February 2025 Fund Growth:

  • Top Performer: FCMB Pensions, achieving a growth rate of 1.48%.
  • Runners-Up: Access ARM Pensions and Trustfund Pensions, both at 1.48% and 1.40% respectively.
  • Average Growth: The average growth rate was 1.24%.
  • Lowest Growth: CrusaderSterling Pensions, with a growth rate of 1.02%.

YTD Fund Growth to 28-02-2025:

  • Top Performer: Access ARM Pensions, with a YTD growth of 2.96%.
  • Runners-Up: Trustfund Pensions and PAL Pensions, both at 2.85%.
  • Average Growth: The average YTD growth rate was 2.54%.
  • Lowest Growth: NLPC Pension, with a YTD growth rate of 1.97%.

Analysis: FCMB Pensions and Access ARM Pensions showed strong performance in both monthly and YTD assessments, though currently pipped YTD by Trustfund Pensions and PAL Pensions.


 

 

Fund V (Micro Pension) Report

Overview: The report for Fund V presents the growth rates of various pension funds for February 2025 and the YTD performance up to 28th February 2025.

February 2025 Fund Growth:

  • Top Performer: Trustfund Pensions, with a growth rate of 2.00%.
  • Runners-Up: Fidelity Pension Managers at 1.92% and Tangerine APT Pensions at 1.88%.
  • Average Growth: The average growth rate was 1.42%.
  • Lowest Growth: Norrenberger Pensions, with a negative growth rate of -1.65%.

YTD Fund Growth to 28-02-2025:

  • Top Performer: Trustfund Pensions, with a YTD growth of 4.11%.
  • Runners-Up: NLPC Pension at 4.07% and PAL Pensions at 4.06%.
  • Average Growth: The average YTD growth rate was 3.20%.
  • Lowest Growth: Norrenberger Pensions, with a negative YTD growth rate of -0.42%.

Analysis: Trustfund Pensions demonstrated consistent strong performance, leading both monthly and YTD growth charts. The overall growth rates indicate a healthy growth trend for the pension funds in Fund V, despite one fund experiencing negative growth.


 

 

Fund VI - Non-Interest (Active) Report

Overview: Fund VI - Non-Interest (Active) report provides insights into the performance of various pension funds during February 2025 and the YTD growth up to 28th February 2025.

February 2025 Fund Growth:

  • Top Performer: Nupemco, with a growth rate of 3.45%.
  • Runners-Up: CrusaderSterling Pensions at 2.20% and Access ARM Pensions at 1.95%.
  • Average Growth: The average growth rate was 1.75%.
  • Lowest Growth: Tangerine APT Pensions, with a growth rate of 1.24%.

YTD Fund Growth to 28-02-2025:

  • Top Performer: Nupemco, with an impressive YTD growth of 7.76%.
  • Runners-Up: CrusaderSterling Pensions at 4.33% and Access ARM Pensions at 3.78%.
  • Average Growth: The average YTD growth rate was 3.62%.
  • Lowest Growth: FCMB Pensions, with a YTD growth rate of 2.22%.

Analysis: Nupemco consistently outperformed other funds in both monthly and YTD assessments. The overall growth trend indicates a positive trajectory for the pension funds, with the average growth rates being above 1.5% for both periods.

 

 

 

Fund VI - Non-Interest (Retiree) Report

Overview: The report for Fund VI - Non-Interest (Retiree) presents the growth rates of various pension funds for February 2025 and the YTD performance up to 28th February 2025.

February 2025 Fund Growth:

  • Top Performer: Access ARM Pensions, with a growth rate of 1.72%.
  • Runners-Up: NLPC Pension at 1.65% and Premium Pension at 1.48%.
  • Average Growth: The average growth rate was 1.33%.
  • Lowest Growth: Tangerine APT Pensions, with a growth rate of 0.86%.

YTD Fund Growth to 28-02-2025:

  • Top Performer: NLPC Pension, with a YTD growth of 3.48%.
  • Runners-Up: Access ARM Pensions at 3.32% and Fidelity Pension Managers at 3.25%.
  • Average Growth: The average YTD growth rate was 2.86%.
  • Lowest Growth: FCMB Pensions, with a YTD growth rate of 1.94%.

Analysis: Access ARM Pensions and NLPC Pension showed strong performance in both monthly and YTD assessments.
