UcheNna Mkparu
UcheNna is an infrastructure finance professional, with over a decade of experience in infrastructure deal origination; transaction and financial advisory; structuring; capital-raising and public private partnership (PPP) advisory. He has been involved in and led a diverse array of infrastructure finance mandates, spanning sectors such as transportation, telecommunication, real estate and renewable energy projects, where he contributed in raising over $160million in early-stage equity and bridge finance debt for transportation projects. Prior to joining the Fund, he was the lead Investment Advisor on the United Kingdom Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (UKNIAF), responsible for investment advisory to a $750million portfolio of climate-resilient projects that cut across federal and sub-national projects and was tasked with responsibility for securing up to $2million in early stage, project development funding from multilateral and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) such as the Africa Development Bank, Afriexim Bank, PIDG group and CDC Plus. Previously, as a key member of the delivery team at The Infrastructure Bank Plc he was involved in originating, structuring and closing on various projects which included securing financing interest for a $1billion, transit corridor consisting of a greenfield expressway and a rail line from Abuja to Lagos and successfully raising over $5million in early stage equity for the transit corridor in 2016; raising over $1million in early-stage equity for the Lagos Metro Rail mass transit (Red Line) scheme in 2017; advising and anchoring the bid preparation process to acquire a $405million terrestrial backbone infrastructure license, covering north-west Nigeria in 2017 and advising and structuring a $125million PPP scheme for the redevelopment of the iconic Independence Building in Lagos, into a mixed-use National Trade and International Business Centre. UcheNna has played pivotal roles at federal level, through his involvement on the Vice Presidential Task Force on credit enhancement framework for infrastructure financing and via contributions in developing the nation’s Viability Gap Funding (VGF) and contingent liability management framework.
